YOGA CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

HATHA YOGA

    Hatha Yoga Classes are slow paced and mindful, balancing both strength and flexibility.  Instructors emphasize breath, posture, alignment and mindful movement.  Students are encouraged to modify poses as necessary, and to work at their own level, building strength, flexibility, and balance over time.  This is an all levels yoga class, in a very non-intimidating environment, suitable for beginners, that currently have an exercise regime. Injuries or illnesses, should have a doctor’s approval.

GENTLE YOGA

Gentle Yoga Classes are slow paced and introspective, using gentle stretches and simple breathing techniques to relieve stress. Instructors emphasize breath, posture, alignment, ease of movement.  Students are encouraged to modify poses as necessary, and to work at their own level, building strength, flexibility and balance over time. This is an all levels yoga class, in a very non-intimidating environment, suitable for beginners. Injuries or illnesses, should have a doctor’s approval.

YIN YOGA

Yin Yoga is a deeply quiet and meditative form of practice.  Poses are held for long periods, without striving or forcing. Poses are done on the floor, with the use of of props; such as bolsters, blankets and blocks.  This allows the muscles and connective tissue to relax and open, in a gentle way. Yin Yoga explores the restorative, healing potential of the YIN aspect of our energy.  Yin Yoga allows students to experience how energy connections affect physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.  Students are encouraged to modify poses as necessary and to work at their own level.  A consistent Yin Yoga practice promotes self-acceptance and inner peace.  This is an all levels yoga class, but we recommend some yoga experience.  This is not a yoga class for beginners. Injuries or illnesses, should have a doctor’s approval.

RESTORATIVE YOGA

Relax, heal and unwind in a very supportive and quiet environment.  Poses are done on the floor, with the use of of props; such as bolsters, blankets and blocks.  This allows the muscles and body to relax and open, in a gentle way.  Restorative Yoga is wonderful for healing the mind, body and soul.  This is an all levels yoga class and beginners are welcome. Injuries or illnesses, should have a doctor’s approval.

FLOW (Vinyasa)

Yoga flow classes combine breath and movement, to heat the body, bringing more oxygen to the blood.  In a flow class there is a continuous rhythm of yoga poses, that safely take you deeper into your practice.  This builds strength, flexibility, and endurance. This is an intermediate level yoga class and some yoga experience is recommended.  This yoga class is not for beginners. Injuries or illnesses, should have a doctor’s approval.

FORREST YOGA

Forrest Yoga is an inspiring yoga practice that builds flexibility, intelligence, and strength. It uses heat, core work, and long pose holds to meet you at your personal edge. Forrest Yoga connects you to breath and challenges you to heal yourself, grow, and have fun. Forrest Yoga is for everybody! Injuries or illnesses, should have a doctor’s approval.

 MINDFUL HATHA YOGA

Mindful Hatha Yoga classes explore classic yoga poses, with an emphasis on the mind and body connection, to promote self healing.  Instruction emphasizes posture, alignment and mindful movement.  Students are encouraged to modify poses as necessary, and to work at their own level, while building strength, flexibility, and balance over time.  This is an all levels yoga class and beginners are welcome. Injuries or illnesses, should have a doctor’s approval.

KUNDALINI YOGA

Kundalini Yoga is one of the most rapidly effective yoga practices.  It awakens and develops the Navel Point, which is the center for balance, focus and power. This area is where the Kundalini energy is stored.  Once your Kundalini energy is stimulated,  it moves through the tissues of the body, balancing the endocrine and nervous systems, the Chakras and the Electro-Magnetic field.  The practice is safe for all levels and beginners are welcome. Injuries or illnesses, should have a doctor’s approval.

MAT PILATES

Pilates strengthens the body’s “powerhouse”, a Pilates term, that refers to your abs, lower back muscles, pelvic floor, hips and glutes. This workout helps build muscle, sculpts and tones these muscles, giving the body a long and lean look. The perfect complement to your yoga practice. This is an all levels class and beginners are welcome. Injuries or illnesses, should have a doctor’s approval.
