Class Descriptions

Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga classes explore classic Hatha Yoga poses (asana) to cultivate inner peace.  Instruction emphasizes posture, alignment, and mindful movement.  Participants are encouraged and assisted to modify poses as necessary and to work at their own level as they build strength, flexibility, and balance over time.  All levels.

Gentle Yoga

Gentle Yoga classes explore classic Hatha Yoga poses (asana), gentle stretches, and simple breathing techniques to relieve stress and to cultivate inner peace and a sense of well-being.  The classes have a slow, gentle pace, and emphasize posture, alignment, and expanding ease of movement.  Participants are encouraged and assisted to modify poses as necessary and to work at their own level as they build strength, flexibility and balance over time. All levels. Beginners welcome.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a deeply quiet and contemplative form of practice.  By holding seated postures without striving or forcing, we explore the restorative, healing potential of the yin aspect of our intrinsic (yin-yang) energy.  Yin Yoga allows us to experience how our energy connections affect our physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.  Participants are encouraged and assisted to modify poses as necessary and to work at their own level as they build strength, flexibility and balance over time.  Consistent, patient Yin yoga practice promotes enduring self-acceptance and inner peace.  All levels.  Some yoga experience recommended.

De-stress/Restorative Yoga

Relax, heal and de-stress in a totally supportive environment with this weekly restorative class. Poses are done on the floor with the use of a lot of props, such as bolsters, blankets and blocks.  This allows the body to settle, the muscles to relax and open in a gentle way.  Restorative yoga is wonderful for healing the mind and body.  A regular relaxation practice is important! Let’s support each other and do it together.  All levels.  Beginners welcome.

Evening Flow

In this evening flow, we combine breath and movement, moving fluidly to feel and build strength.  Starting with a breathing meditation, moving into a mellow but strong flow, ending quietly with relaxation. Some yoga experience recommended.

Energetic Flow

Combines the ujjayi breath to heat the body, bringing more oxygen to the blood, with a continuous flow of asanas that safely take you deeper into your practice — building strength, flexibility, and endurance. Intermediate. Yoga experience required.

Mindful Hatha Yoga

Mindful Hatha Yoga classes explore classic Hatha Yoga poses (asana) to cultivate inner peace, with an emphasis on the mind/body connection to promote self healing.  Instruction emphasizes posture, alignment, and mindful movement.  Participants are encouraged and assisted to modify poses as necessary and to work at their own level as they build strength, flexibility, and balance over time.  All levels.

Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini (meaning “Coiled Energy”) Yoga is one of the most rapidly effective yoga practices.  It awakens and develops the Navel Point, which is the center for balance, focus and power. This area is where the Kundalini energy is stored.  Once your Kundalini energy is stimulated,  it moves through the tissues of the body, balancing the endocrine and nervous systems, the Chakras and the Electro-Magnetic field.  The practice is safe for all levels.  Utilizing the breath to dissolve crystallized energy blocks and body locks to channel the powerful energy to all parts of the body, students are guaranteed to have a positive Kundalini experience.
